Birdwatcher's Delight
Small renovations for big quality of life improvements
It was hard to believe that the developers of this stock suburban house put in a huge master bedroom (450 square feet) with only one window that never got enough light and made it impossible to ventilate the space. The owners came to us to create a more light-filled space that they could enjoy starting the day in. Our solution rebalanced the dark bedroom space by adding an east-facing balcony overlooking a private garden, where the owners spend their early morning hours taking in the sun and watching birds.
The large suburban house also had a small, cramped kitchen that came stock with the house. The owners, who enjoy cooking, were not able to comfortably use the space, especially with a huge portion of it wasted on a large, inefficient pantry and the mechanical shaft. With minimal remodeling that condensed the mechanical system and rethought the storage, the homeowners now enjoy more counter space, an efficient pantry system, and improved usability and flow in the kitchen with all the space they could ever want for their ambitious cooking endeavors.
By thoroughly understanding our clients’ specific needs for their space, we created several fine-tuned solutions by renovating just two key areas. These modest improvements create a huge difference in the flow and quality of the owners’ home life.
